STOP 1 – Savignyplatz: the artistic heart of Charlottenburg
About 20 minutes
Since the 1920s, Savignyplatz has been a meeting place for writers, artists and intellectuals, from Bertolt Brecht to the West Berlin art scene of the Cold War. Around the square you find elegant Gründerzeit buildings, antiquarian bookshops, classic cafés and small galleries such as Galerie Michael Schultz, Contemporary Fine Arts and Jarmuschek + Partner.
STOP 2 – Galerie Buchholz
Galerie Buchholz in Fasanenstraße is one of Europe's leading galleries for contemporary and conceptual art, with spaces in Berlin, Cologne and New York. Its calm, minimalist rooms show artists such as Wolfgang Tillmans, Isa Genzken and Christopher Williams.
STOP 3 – The Kantstraße gallery corridor
The stretch of Kantstraße from Savignyplatz towards Uhlandstraße is one of Berlin's gallery corridors. Highlights include Galerie Nordenhake (minimalist, conceptual and political art), Galerie Judin (large-scale installations) and Esther Schipper, one of Europe's most influential galleries.
STOP 4 – Delphi Filmpalast
A classic West Berlin cinema with roots in the late 1920s and a striking historic interior. Today it is an art-house cinema showing international and German films beyond the mainstream, and a venue for film events.
STOP 5 – C/O Berlin
C/O Berlin on Hardenbergstraße is one of Europe's leading centres for photography. It is housed in the former Amerika Haus, a Cold War symbol of cultural exchange. Exhibitions have featured photographers such as Annie Leibovitz, Sebastião Salgado and Nan Goldin.
STOP 6 – Kurfürstendamm
The Ku'damm was West Berlin's grand boulevard and a symbol of free cultural life during the city's division. Along it you find post-war architecture, art institutions and private galleries such as CAMERA WORK, known for outstanding photography and contemporary art.

Between stops 3 and 5 we can take a break, for example at the Literaturhaus Berlin café or another classic City West café.
